Anca Marcu is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Anca advises clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including global trademark and copyright protection, litigation, and anti-counterfeiting enforcement. Prior to joining SGR, Anca served as trademark counsel to Bristol-Myers Squibb. She also previously practiced at a major Washington, D.C. law firm and began her career as a trademark and copyright associate at a boutique intellectual property firm.
As trademark counsel, Anca has extensive experience assisting clients with the selection, clearance, registration, maintenance, enforcement, and defense of trademarks worldwide. Her responsibilities include counseling on trademark infringement issues and representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Additionally, she reviews and approves marketing materials for compliance with U.S. and international trademark laws.
Anca regularly prosecutes trademark applications and takes a proactive role in resolving disputes through consent and settlement agreements. Her work includes advising clients on intellectual property licensing matters, including drafting and negotiating intellectual property licensing agreements. Anca also helps clients develop and implement proactive brand protection strategies, including enforcing rights through legal action to prevent the sale of counterfeit goods.
Anca earned an advanced degree (LLM) in Intellectual Property Law in addition to her Juris Doctorate from UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law. She earned a dual Bachelor of Science from Drexel University in Fashion Merchandising and in Business Marketing.
