Smith Gambrell Russell Partner Matthew Clarke Selected as Georgia Trend’s 2023 Legal Elite

ATLANTA (December 28, 2023) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that Partner Matthew Clarke has been recognized as Georgia Trend magazine’s 2023 Legal Elite. The Legal Elite, which has been recognizing lawyers for more than two decades, is a list of Georgia’s top attorneys in the state selected from 15 different practice areas, as nominated and chosen by their peers. Mr. Clarke was recognized in Labor & Employment Law.

Matt Clarke is a partner in SGR’s Litigation Practice and currently serves as co-chair of the Labor & Employment Practice. He also serves as the Firm’s assistant general counsel. Mr. Clarke has significant experience in employment law, encompassing employment discrimination and litigation, employment contracts, employee handbooks and policies, termination and separations, hiring practices, wage and hour issues, unemployment compensation and other aspects of the employer/employee relationship governed by state and federal laws. He regularly counsels clients on compliance issues and dispute avoidance.

Currently, Mr. Clarke is a member of the Annual Campaign Steering Committee of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer Foundation (AVLF), a non-profit organization that provides free legal representation to low-income people through the generosity of attorneys in the community. He previously served for many years on the AVLF’s Board of Directors. Mr. Clarke also currently serves on the Advisory Committee for Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBPA), an organization that engages attorneys to provide nonprofits with pro bono business legal services.
