ATLANTA (September 12, 2022) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that UK Partner Mark Turnbull has been recognized by Airline Economics in its list of leading Aviation Industry Mentors of 2022. Mr. Turnbull was nominated by Tom Maddison, former SGR UK office senior associate, who was recognized in the Airline Economics 40 Under 40 Class of 2022. Airline Economics is the flagship publication dedicated to commercial aviation finance and leasing industry.

First published in 2016, the Airline Economics 40 Under 40 list celebrates the up and coming aviation industry professionals, such as airline and leasing company executives, bankers, lawyers, and consultants. The final 40 individuals are chosen from the collection of nominations and endorsements made by senior members of the broad aviation community, which also predominantly includes clients. The 40 Under 40 members are then given the opportunity to nominate other industry individuals who have acted as mentors to them during their aviation careers. Those nominated are compiled into the leading Aviation Industry Mentors list, now in its third year of publication.

Mark Turnbull is a founding partner of SGR’s UK offices, along with Partner Ben Graham-Evans. Mr. Turnbull has nearly two decades of experience representing aircraft leasing companies, airlines, equity investors, arrangers, and other industry participants on the acquisition, disposal, leasing and financing of new and used commercial aircraft, engines, and parts. He regularly advises on significant aircraft and engine portfolio transactions and cross border lease and debt transactions, including sale and lease backs, operating and finance leases, debt facilities, and PDP financings.

Mr. Turnbull was recognized in the first Airline Economics 40 Under 40 Class of 2017. Additionally, he has previously been named to Who's Who Aviation UK, Chambers UK for Aviation, and the Legal 500 for Aviation.
