Smith Gambrell Russell New York Partner Dana Mark Recognized with the John P. Cooney, Jr. Award from the Inner-City Scholarship Fund
ATLANTA (October 26, 2023) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that New York Partner Dana Mark has been recognized with the John P. Cooney, Jr. Award for Mentorship and Community Involvement from the Inner-City Scholarship Fund (Inner-City). Ms. Mark was presented with the award in recognition of her involvement with New York’s St. Jean Baptiste High School, as an alumna and a member of its board of trustees, along with her success in the legal profession.
Ms. Mark’s John P. Cooney, Jr. Award for Mentorship and Community Involvement was presented during the 34th Annual Saint Thomas More Award Luncheon held on October 25 hosted by the Inner-City Lawyers Committee, comprised of dedicated attorneys who raise critical resources to support Inner-City’s mission of providing a Catholic education for K-12 students in need in the Archdiocese of New York. Inner-City provides more than $15 million in scholarships to more than 9,000 students annually. Of the students it serves, 72% live at or below the poverty level, more than 90% are minorities, and more than 40% are from single-parent households.
Dana Mark is a partner in the Private Wealth Services practice in SGR’s New York office. She focuses her practice on tax, estate and trust planning, charitable giving, and tax-exempt organizations. Ms. Mark has extensive experience involving sophisticated tax planning, the probate and administration of estates and trusts, qualified retirement plan assets and IRAs, and the preparation of pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
Ms. Mark is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a member of the American Law Institute, and a member of Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises (AFHE). She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Additionally, Ms. Mark is a member of the board of directors of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, emeritus member of its executive committee and heads the governance committee. She is a member of the board of trustees of the ACE Scholarship Foundation of NY and a member of the board of Animal Zone International.
Ms. Mark has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and Super Lawyers and named to Super Lawyers Top 50: 2022 Women New York-Metro.
