The Evolution and Current State of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)

Join Smith Gambrell Russell’s IP Practice for a Webinar entitled, “The Evolution and Current State of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL).”
The 21st century has brought about the rise of technology and social media, which has brought about a movement to allow athletes to monetize the use of their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). This movement has led to select states passing legislation on NIL, but to this point, no federal legislation has been enacted. The NCAA’s action, or inaction, has impacted the trajectory of NIL legislation moving forward, causing various legal issues across the board of college athletics.
Our presenters will discuss the history and evolution of NIL and the Right of Publicity within college athletics.
