About Shunji

Shunji Okamoto advises clients on a broad range of corporate and transactional matters, including corporate formation, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance matters. Dispute resolution is also a core part of Shunji’s practice, including international commercial litigation and arbitration, both in Japan and in the United States.

Before joining SGR, Shunji worked as an attorney in Tokyo for more than 10 years. He advised a variety of clients, from listed companies to startups, and handled general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy cases, and dispute resolutions. Shunji also routinely served as a member of the board of directors (as an outside auditor) for several companies. He deeply understands not only Japanese corporate law, but also the corporate culture and decision-making process of Japanese companies, which makes him an effective resource for Japanese companies in the U.S., and the U.S. (and other foreign) companies investing in Japan.
