ATLANTA (June 6, 2023) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that the Firm has been recognized by The American Lawyer as a 2023 Am Law 200 firm for the ninth consecutive year. SGR improved its standing on the list by nine spots, as a result of the Firm’s steady strategic growth. SGR was one of only 19 firms in the “Second Hundred” to post a double-digit increase in gross revenue.

The Am Law 200, a ranking of the 200 highest-grossing law firms in the United States, is reported by ALM business of law journalists and researchers. The list is published annually with a first portion, the Am Law 100, followed by the “Second Hundred” comprised of the firms ranked 101-200.

“Geographic growth in new and existing markets in 2022 enabled the Firm to expand our client offerings, which led to another record-breaking year financially,” said Stephen M. Forte, SGR’s chairman and managing partner. “2023 has already brought additional expansion in Chicago, New York, and Florida that we believe will further enhance SGR’s capabilities across the globe.”

SGR continued its steady strategic growth in 2022 which included the combination with one of Atlanta’s premier law firms, Rogers & Hardin and the opening of a ninth U.S. office located in Chicago through a combination with business litigation law firm, Figliulo & Silverman.

Further growth into 2023 includes April’s combination with Chicago-based business litigation law firm, Freeborn & Peters, which expanded the Chicago and New York offices and added offices in Tampa, Florida and Springfield, Illinois. SGR now operates 14 offices throughout the U.S. and abroad and has grown its headcount to nearly 400 attorneys.
