September 8 Marks the Four-Year Anniversary of the Chick-fil-A® Founder’s Death
ATLANTA (September 5, 2018) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce the official release of Partner Perry McGuire’s new book, Nice, But Not Naïve And Other Lessons I Learned From Chick-fil-A Founder Truett Cathy. Launched on September 1, the book coincides with the September 8 four-year anniversary of Mr. Cathy’s death. Net proceeds from the sale of the book will be given to the Chick-fil-A Foundation and the WinShape Foundation in memory of Mr. Cathy.
Mr. McGuire served as an attorney for Mr. Cathy and Chick-fil-A® for more than 11 years, which gave him the opportunity to work closely with the iconic founder on his business, personal, and charitable endeavors. The book, Nice, But Not Naïve, is a tribute to the impact Mr. Cathy had on Mr. McGuire and the business and life lessons he learned from their relationship.
The book honors the late Mr. Cathy and his business style. As Dan Cathy, his son and Chairman & CEO of Chick-fil-A, Inc. says, “If you’ve ever wanted a deeper look into the business sense of my dad, this is the book. Full of great stories and keen business insight, Nice, But Not Naïve will delight and inspire you.”
Mr. McGuire is a Partner in SGR’s Corporate Practice where he focuses on general corporate law, specifically franchise, mergers and acquisitions, and governmental affairs. His in-house counsel legal experience has given him a broad base from which to assist clients in many areas of their businesses. Mr. McGuire is a former Georgia State Senator and was the 2006 Republican nominee for Attorney General of Georgia. He has served on the State Board of Juvenile Justice and currently serves on the Atlanta Board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Georgia Conservative Policy Institute.
