Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP Welcomes Partner Gordon McAllister to the London Office

Press Release

LONDON (April 2, 2026) — Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (“SGR”) is pleased to announce the arrival of Gordon McAllister as a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation and International Arbitration practices. He joins the London office from Crowell & Moring.

“Gordon’s arrival is a significant moment for our London office and for the firm as a whole,” said Patrick Swain, Partner and leader of SGR’s U.K. Commercial Disputes team. “He brings exceptional depth in international arbitration and High Court litigation across sectors that are central to our clients—aviation, transportation, construction, and finance. His addition reflects the firm’s commitment to building a genuinely formidable dispute resolution practice here in London.”

Tri-jurisdictionally qualified and fluent in English, German, Spanish, and Swedish, McAllister advises international businesses facing high-stakes, cross-border disputes. His practice spans English High Court litigation and complex international arbitrations—both commercial and investor-state. His arbitration experience spans proceedings in all major arbitral institutions, with disputes ranging from construction mega-projects in Asia to government contract repudiations and insurance coverage under Bermuda Form policies.

McAllister has also represented clients in some of the largest matters heard in the English High Court in recent years, handling claims valued in excess of £1 billion. He has established a record of obtaining judgments that shape legal practice, including decisions addressing competition law and expert witness obligations in English civil litigation.

Opened in 2017, SGR’s London and Southampton offices are home to robust global transportation and litigation practices comprised of experienced practitioners in the U.K. working collaboratively with lawyers situated primarily across the firm’s U.S. offices in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte and Miami. McAllister’s arrival continues the strategic expansion of the Firm’s dispute resolution capabilities in the U.K., which have developed with the recent additions of partners Simon Kilgour and Swain.

“SGR has built something genuinely distinctive in London by combining serious international capability with the agility and client focus that sophisticated cross-border and litigation work demands,” said McAllister. “The opportunity to work alongside quality lawyers and to help build something meaningful in this market is compelling. I look forward to bringing my experience to the firm’s clients and to contributing to the continued growth of the London office.”
