Smith, Gambrell & Russell Leases Additional Full Floor at Midtown’s 1105 West Peachtree for Atlanta Office Relocation

ATLANTA (September 16, 2019) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce it has leased an additional full floor at 1105 West Peachtree as part of its planned 2021 Atlanta office relocation. With the additional 18,443 square feet, SGR now plans to occupy 120,763 square feet on five floors of the mixed-use development located on Midtown’s 12^th and West Peachtree streets. First announced in December 2018, SGR’s lease agreement was the proposed commercial development’s first to be announced, and originally at 102,320 square feet, it was one of the largest office leases signed in Midtown in 2018. SGR has occupied multiple floors in its current location in Midtown’s Promenade office tower since 1991.

“As the firm continues to grow its global footprint, we are also excited to announce the further expansion of our new Atlanta headquarters office,” said Stephen M. Forte, SGR’s chairman and managing partner. “The additional floor in 1105 West Peachtree affords us the opportunity to enhance the proposed layout of our space with room to grow.”

Developer Selig Enterprises recently broke ground on the nearly 3.6-acre site which will feature a 675,000-square-foot office tower, a full-service Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, 64 luxury residential units and ground level retail. With the additional full floor, SGR will now occupy floors eight through 12 of the new 31-story office tower, which provides direct access to the ninth floor’s one-acre Sky Plaza featuring green space, a rooftop bar, and restaurant.

SGR Partners Jay Schwartz and Eric Mandus participated in lease negotiations on behalf of the firm. Shea Meddin, Andrew Ghertner, Carla Williams, and John Izard of Cushman & Wakefield represented SGR in the lease negotiations. Chris Ahrenkiel and Steve Baile of Selig represented the developer.

Over the last three years, SGR has grown strategically within the U.S. and internationally with the opening of new offices in Miami; Los Angeles; Austin; London and Southampton, U.K.; and Munich, Germany. Additionally, the firm merged with an employee benefits law firm in Atlanta, combined with a business law firm in LA and acquired a boutique law firm in NY. With continued plans to grow, the firm now has approximately 250 attorneys in 10 offices globally.
