About Bill

William M. Turner is a partner in Smith, Gambrell & Russell's Litigation Practice. With decades of experience handling complex litigation matters, Bill represents clients in class actions, representative actions, mass actions, business disputes, and matters involving securities brokerage litigation and arbitration in FINRA, AAA, JAMS, and other forums. He counsels and advocates for clients ranging from individuals and nonprofit organizations to closely held companies and large national businesses.

An accomplished trial lawyer, Bill has successfully defended and prosecuted hundreds of cases throughout his career. He has served as lead counsel in numerous trials and arbitrations, securing favorable results in a wide range of high-stakes disputes. Bill is one of the relatively few attorneys who has tried class actions.

Bill's practice encompasses complex commercial litigation, class actions, unfair competition claims, false advertising disputes, wage and hour matters, trade secrets litigation, and securities-related disputes. In addition to his courtroom experience, he is recognized for negotiating substantial settlements that achieve practical and business-focused outcomes for his clients.

Throughout his career, Bill has represented clients across a broad range of industries, including financial services, securities brokerage, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations. His client roster has included major companies and institutions such as Wells Fargo, TD Ameritrade, Charles Schwab, Robinhood, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

Outside of his practice, Bill is an avid golfer and enjoys visiting Bandon Dunes whenever possible. He also appreciates craft beer

  • Lead counsel on more than 100 class actions and representative actions.
  • Obtained more than $12 million in relief for more than 100 seniors in a specific performance and fraud class action.
  • Obtained the greatest amount per settlement class member in a wage-and-hour class action that the presiding judge in the LASC Complex department had ever seen.
  • Defeated at the class certification stage or trial class action claims seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
