About Neil

Cornelius “Neil” Tanis concentrates his work to providing assistance to clients to better optimize, exploit and monetize their technology and other intellectual property assets to solve problems and create new opportunities for their business.

Among various intellectual property, commercial, and general corporate matters, Neil advises businesses with respect to entity structure, partnering, strategic alliances and joint ventures, and the development, ownership and licensing of technology and other intellectual property and assets. Neil also provides advice on matters involving software, hardware, e-commerce, cloud, databases, privacy, and Internet projects and opportunities.

Additionally, Neil has extensive experience acquiring, expanding, refinancing, and restructuring private sector companies, services, manufacturing, distribution and supply agreements, outsourcing arrangements, group purchasing agreements, and other general corporate and commercial transactions, both domestic and international.

As a part of the technology focus, Neil has prepared, analyzed and negotiated commercial agreements for almost every industry including medical, health, manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, as well as data centers, transportation, energy and storage providers, as well as schools and churches.  Prior to joining the Smith Gambrell & Russell, Neil was a partner in the Technology Transactions practice at K&L Gates.
