Charys Smith helps clients navigate complex commercial disputes and workplace matters with practical, business-minded guidance. Her practice focuses on complex commercial business litigation and labor and employment law, where she supports employers and businesses in reducing risk, strengthening workplace policies, and positioning disputes for efficient resolution. In her labor and employment practice, she drafts employment contracts, policies, handbooks, and severance agreements designed to protect employers while maintaining compliance with evolving regulations. In her litigation practice, Charys focuses on complex commercial matters. She conducts legal research, drafts pleadings, and supports case strategy in multi-party disputes where business relationships and significant financial interests are at stake. Charys is also committed to service beyond her client work through pro bono efforts in the community.
In addition to previously working as a Summer Associate for Smith, Gambrell & Russell, Charys gained experience across the public and private sectors. As a Fellow at the Florida Supreme Court, she observed appellate decision-making at the highest state level. She also gained insight into federal criminal and civil enforcement as an extern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida. As a clerk for a private municipal bonds firm, she added valuable transactional and regulatory knowledge to her litigation foundation. During law school, Charys honed her writing and appellate advocacy skills as Executive Editor of the Florida State University Law Review, staff editor of the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law, and as both Intramural Chair and a competitor on the FSU Law Moot Court Team.
Born in England and raised in Saudi Arabia, Charys likes to spend her spare time traveling. Outside of the office, she enjoys going to the beach, reading, trying out different adventure sports, and attending concerts.
