About Jeremy
Jeremy D. Richardson works primarily with consumer product manufacturers. He helps clients navigate complex intellectual property and regulatory challenges by delivering practical, business-aligned solutions. Jeremy’s fashion law background and litigation experience enables him to provide actionable advice on regulatory compliance and product safety, litigation, intellectual property and contract matters.
Jeremy’s focus on consumer product manufacturers is concentrated within the juvenile products and toy sector. He partners with clients to address a broad range of issues, including trademark and copyright protection, intellectual property licensing, and contract disputes. Jeremy also advises on regulatory compliance, helping clients mitigate risk and align legal strategies with business objectives. Jeremy has gained substantial experience in defending class action false advertising claims, especially following voluntary CPSC-approved recalls.
When disputes arise, Jeremy represents clients in New York State and Federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and has argued before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. His admission pro hac vice in multiple courts reflects his versatility in handling complex litigation matters.
Beyond legal counsel, Jeremy actively contributes to the consumer products industry through memberships in the Baby Safety Alliance (formerly Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association), International Consumer Products Health and Safety Organization, Toy Association, and ASTM International. He has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at Parsons School of Design and Fordham Law School, focusing on legal and regulatory issues in the fashion industry.
Before joining Smith Gambrell & Russell, Jeremy led the Consumer Products Industry Team at Freeborn, bringing leadership experience that enhances his client service approach.
