About Josh

Joshua D. Gentner is a leading aviation and transportation finance and leasing lawyer who advises financial institutions, lessors, airlines, trustees, and investors on complex, cross-border transactions involving high-value mobile assets.

Clients rely on Josh for his ability to structure and execute sophisticated financings across jurisdictions, navigate bankruptcy risk, and deliver practical, commercially focused solutions on tight timelines. His practice spans aircraft and rail financings, leasing and leasing platforms, export credit agency-supported transactions, securitizations (including EETCs, ABSs and other capital markets structures), and large portfolio purchases and financings.

Josh represents airlines, lenders, lessors, trustees, the US export credit agency, and the Export-Import Bank of the United States in transactions involving aircraft, rolling stock, locomotives, vessels, and other equipment. He is particularly experienced in cross-border leasing and structured financings, where he coordinates multi-jurisdictional teams and aligns complex financing structures with evolving legal regimes.  Josh has served as counsel on multiple transactions that have been recognized as “Deal of the Year” from industry publications.

In addition to transactional work, Josh regularly advises clients on restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcy proceedings, representing creditors and airlines in high-stakes U.S. and international insolvency matters.

Outside of his practice, Josh enjoys travel, skiing, hiking, and spending quality time with his family - bringing the same discipline and curiosity to his personal pursuits as he does to his client work.
