Daniel Solomos is an Associate in the Global Transport Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Daniel focuses on aviation finance and leasing transactions. He has helped advise airlines, lessors, lenders, and financial institutions on a broad range of cross-border deals, including large-scale mergers, aircraft and engine novations, sale and leasebacks, JOLCO financings, and insurance-backed financings. His experience spans commercial fleets, corporate aircraft, and spare engines, and includes drafting and negotiating key documents, managing conditions precedent, and coordinating multi-jurisdictional closings. He works closely with clients to align legal strategy with commercial and operational priorities in complex international transactions.
Before joining the firm, Daniel acted on significant aviation transactions, including a high-value merger involving more than 50 aircraft and engine novations, the insurance-backed financing of Airbus aircraft, and multi-jurisdictional sale and leasebacks for leading lessors and airlines. He also gained experience in international arbitration and disputes in the energy sector, as well as planning and insurance liability matters, giving him a broad foundation in cross-border legal work and client advocacy.
After completing his LLB and before starting his MSc at The University of Law, Daniel did a four-month legal internship in Brisbane, Australia with a boutique investment banks legal counsel, where he specialized in corporate finance and M&A transactions. He earned his BA in History at King’s College London.
