- The US Supreme Court just ruled this morning that same-sex couples have a right under the US Constitution to marry in all states.
- Since same-sex marriages have already been recognized under federal law, this ruling may not have a significant impact on benefit plan operations.
- However, some state law issues will likely be affected. For example, it will likely no longer be necessary to impute state income taxes on health benefits for same-sex spouses.
