Jenny Wang is an Associate in the Corporate and Tax Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Jenny focuses her practice in the areas of corporate law, tax law, and wealth and estate planning. In her prior roles, Jenny has worked with a wide range of clients to serve their discrete needs. She helped owners of closely-held businesses draft agreements and amendments to reflect their changing business demands. She represented individual taxpayers and corporate taxpayers to resolve complex tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, the Franchise Tax Board, the Office of Tax Appeals, and the Employment Development Department. She also counseled and worked with clients in all aspects of planning matters, including wealth transfers, cross-border transactions, business succession, and charitable giving.
Jenny earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws in Taxation from Loyola Law School. As a law student, she represented the IRS and filed motions with the Tax Court, held meetings with taxpayers, and appeared before the Tax Court judge during the trial session. She also assisted taxpayers with state income tax disputes with the Franchise Tax Board, where she worked to identify and gather evidence, researched tax issues, held discussions with opposing counsel, and prepared appeals briefs.
Prior to law school, Jenny was a CPA in the auditing group of a Big Four accounting firm. She also served as a Senior Financial Analyst at The Walt Disney Company. Jenny earned dual degrees in Business Administration and Economics from University of California, Berkeley. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Shanghai dialect. She enjoyed studying Spanish throughout high school and college.
In addition to representing her clients, Jenny is involved with helping those who cannot afford legal services. She volunteered with VITA to serve low-income taxpayers in income tax assistance; with Public Law Center in bankruptcy filings; and with her local community in general legal matters.
