W. Randy King serves clients at the intersection of complex technology and business solutions, with a focus on intellectual property and technology-driven matters in the computer arts. He distinguishes himself through a unique blend of legal expertise and extensive technical experience, having spent 15 years as a software and computing consultant for Fortune 500 companies. Randy’s background in engineering and law enables him to provide practical clarity and strategic guidance in complex, technology-focused business and legal issues.
Randy concentrates on safeguarding and licensing intellectual property rights related to computer arts, while also helping clients navigate the broader challenges that arise in developing, deploying, and commercializing technology solutions. His approach combines deep technical knowledge with legal acumen, allowing him to align intellectual property and contractual strategies with clients’ overall business objectives.
Before joining Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, Randy was a part of Taylor Duma, and prior to that was an associate at a full-service intellectual property law firm in Atlanta. His prior 15 years as a consultant in software and computing included work with Andersen Consulting and leading his own firm, Randall Technology Group Inc. There, he developed software and database solutions, designed enterprise technical architectures, and managed IT strategy and critical projects for Fortune 500 companies nationwide. This experience enables him to understand clients’ technical environments and business goals and deliver practical, risk-aware solutions.
