Full Bio
Harrison H.D. Breakstone guides debtors, creditors, and stakeholders through complex corporate restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings with a strategic focus on preserving value and maximizing leverage. Harrison brings a strong blend of legal acumen and organizational insight, grounded in academic training in human and organizational development, that helps him quickly identify the business dynamics and interpersonal relationships shaping each matter. He combines a clear understanding of his clients’ commercial objectives with creative problem-solving to achieve efficient, business-focused outcomes in high-stakes financial distress situations.
Harrison’s practice centers on representing parties across the restructuring spectrum, including debtors navigating Chapter 11, secured and unsecured creditors protecting their interests, and other stakeholders managing risk in distressed situations. His work spans debtors’ and creditors’ rights, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial disputes arising from financial distress.
Harrison approaches each engagement by taking the time to understand not just the legal issues but the underlying business model, organizational structure, and strategic goals driving his clients’ decisions. This client-centered approach allows him to craft solutions that align with real-world commercial priorities rather than one-size-fits-all legal strategies. His background in corporate strategy and organizational effectiveness enables him to assess quickly how internal and external relationships affect situations and ultimate case outcomes. Harrison works with clients across diverse industries, tailoring his counsel to the unique operational and financial challenges each sector presents.
Before entering private practice, Harrison gained valuable perspective serving as a student intern to Hon. Carla Craig, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, and as a judicial intern to Hon. Donald Kurtz of the New York State Supreme Court.
