On Monday and Tuesday of this week, April 27-28, 2009, the Georgia Water Resources Conference was held at the UGA Center for Continuing Education. Two SGR attorneys, Stephen E. O’Day and Andrew M. Thompson, spoke at this conference. On Monday, Andy spoke on a Water Quality Primer panel discussing topics such as Anti-degradation Analysis for Discharge Permitting, Georgia’s General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activities, Georgia’s General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Industrial Activity, Stream Buffer Regulations, and Wetlands Permitting. On Tuesday, Steve participated on a Coastal Marshlands Protection panel, discussing the state of the laws regulating impacts on Georgia’s coastal marshlands, including the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act, the federal Clean Water Act, and the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act.
