Ward has been recognized by the Daily Report as one of the honorees in the On the Rise category in the publication’s Georgia Legal Awards 2022. The On the Rise category recognizes Georgia’s most promising lawyers under the age of 40 as of June 1, 2022 as selected by the Daily Report with assistance from a panel of esteemed lawyers. The honorees are considered to be innovators in Georgia and are known for developing unique practice niches, amassing robust books of business, demonstrating strong leadership qualities, showing expertise in litigation or transactional work, and committing themselves to pro bono, charitable, and professional volunteer work.
As a partner in SGR’s Atlanta Litigation Practice, Emily Ward concentrates on white-collar defense and civil litigation including healthcare, business, and environmental litigation, as well as administrative and regulatory matters. Ms. Ward has been previously recognized for the quality of her legal work. In 2019, she was honored with the Catherine M. O’Neil Mentoring Award by Women’s White Collar Defense Association and most recently with the 2022 Young Alumnae of Excellence Award by the University of Georgia School of Law. She is also active within the American Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, and Atlanta Bar Association, where she has served in various leadership positions and as a member of several committees.
In addition to On the Rise, the Georgia Legal Award categories also include Attorney of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Leaders, Best Mentors, Most Effective Deal Makers, Legal Innovators, In-House Impact, In-House Departments of the Year, Law Firm of the Year, Litigation Departments of the Year, Most Innovative Law Firms, and Diversity Initiative.
