ATLANTA (September 23, 2015) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) announced today that Bruce A. McDonald has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a partner.
“Bruce has an outstanding reputation in federal trademark and copyright infringement matters,” said Stephen Forte, SGR’s managing partner. “He has achieved many successes in notable cases in the trademark arena. This can only add more substance to the brand of SGR’s global trademark litigation practice.”
McDonald’s practice involves all aspects of trademark and intellectual property law, including federal court litigation, opposition and cancellation proceedings at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, trademark portfolio administration, clearance investigations, enforcement and counseling. A Russian language scholar by training, his fluency in Russian has led to representation of Russian institutions and state-owned enterprises. Additionally, McDonald was the first and only American named to the Advisory Council of the Intellectual Property Court of the Russian Federation. Prior to concentrating his practice in intellectual property, he was an appellate litigation attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor and also served as a litigation associate in an energy and natural resources firm. McDonald received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California and his Juris Doctor from American University.
