ATLANTA (October 20, 2017) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce the publication of Seizing Serendipity, the first biography written about the professional and personal journey of SGR Partner and Retired Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears. In celebration of the book release, SGR will host a book signing and fireside chat with Justice Sears and the book’s author Professor Rebecca Shriver Davis on Thursday, November 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in SGR’s Midtown Atlanta office.
Ms. Sears is a Partner in SGR’s Litigation Practice. Among her many roles at the law firm, she is an appellate lawyer, oral advocate and strategist, in addition to often serving as a neutral in arbitration proceedings and mediations. Ms. Sears was the first woman and youngest jurist ever to sit on Georgia’s Supreme Court when she was appointed in 1992. She was also the first woman judge on the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia, which she won by election in 1988.
