ATLANTA (July 7, 2014) – David M. Moore has joined Smith, Gambrell & Russell’s Atlanta office as a partner. As a member of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group, Mr. Moore will focus on environmental and energy law.
Moore has spent the past 14 years in private practice focusing on environmental and energy litigation, permitting and licensing. During this time he has represented Fortune 500 clients, handled hazardous substance regulatory issues for one of the nation’s largest private companies, and has represented one of the nation’s largest utilities regarding renewable energy, water rights and other energy related issues. Moore has also been involved in litigation regarding the Florida Everglades restoration and interstate water disputes.

Prior to his time in private practice, Moore spent six years as a federal regulator for the Environmental Protection Agency in New York, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. He also spent two years serving as general counsel for Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, a 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental organization responsible for protecting and restoring the Chattahoochee River Basin, and existing client of Smith, Gambrell & Russell. Moore formerly served on the board of the National Hydropower Association and was co-chair of the American Bar Association Energy Law Committee. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law where he has taught for the past 20 years.
