ATLANTA (May 24, 2011) — Smith, Gambrell & Russell welcomes attorney Perry J. McGuire as Counsel in its Corporate practice, resident in the Atlanta office. Mr. McGuire, whose practice focuses on corporate and franchise law, joins SGR from Taylor English Duma LLP.
Drawing upon his experience as an in-house corporate attorney at Chick-Fil-A, Inc., Mr. McGuire counsels clients in many aspects of their businesses. In addition to successfully counseling both franchisors and franchisees at every level of the business cycle, he has negotiated complex business contracts and handled sensitive employment issues. Mr. McGuire also advises clients in governmental affairs, assisting them in navigating through the often complex government bureaucracies. He is a former state senator and the 2006 Republican nominee for Attorney General of Georgia.
Mr. McGuire is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising and its Fund for Justice and Education. He serves as Chairman of the Franchise and Distribution Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and is also a member of the Southeast Franchise Forum, the Georgia Restaurant Association and the National Restaurant Association. Mr. McGuire earned his B.B.A. in Finance from Valdosta State University in 1981 and his J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 1988. He is admitted to practice in Georgia.
