SGR Strengthens Tax Practice with Addition of Partner Scott Harty

ATLANTA (May 5, 2010) — Scott A. Harty has re-joined the Atlanta office of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP as a partner in the firm’s tax section.

Mr. Harty’s practice focuses on tax planning, including advising clients on taxable and tax-free mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and inbound and outbound tax planning. His international tax experience encompasses various facets of foreign investments including Subpart F and foreign tax credit planning, tax consequences of international acquisitions, and investments in U.S. real estate.

Mr. Harty was ranked by Chambers USA 2009-2010 as one of the leading tax lawyers in Georgia and was selected by his peers as one of Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite. He is a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Tax Policy Committee and a frequent speaker on domestic and international tax issues.

Mr. Harty received his B.A. from Virginia Tech in 1994, his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1998, and his LL.M. from New York University in 2000. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Georgia, New York and U.S. Tax Court.
