Litigator David Fox Joins SGR as Counsel

NEW YORK (April 8, 2010) — David L. Fox has joined the New York office of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP as counsel in the Litigation section. Prior to joining SGR, Mr. Fox was a partner at Herrick Feinstein, LLP and a founding partner at Felcher Fox and Litner.

Mr. Fox focuses the majority of his practice on litigation for insurance companies in claims against other insurers, reinsurers, general agents, claims administrators, liquidators and regulators. He also handles non-insurance claims for breach of contract, conversion, breach of fiduciary duties, unfair competition, tortious interference and fraudulent conveyance. In addition, he advises insurers on a wide range of business, regulatory and transactional issues.

He is an experienced litigator in the federal and state courts in New York and has successfully litigated matters as pro hac vice counsel in other jurisdictions. He has served as lead counsel in trials and arbitrations on a variety of commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Fox is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the American Bar Association and the ARIAS-US (the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society). He graduated with a B.A. from Hamilton College in 1963, and in 1966 he received his LL.B. from Columbia Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York; the U.S. District Court, S.D. New York; the U.S. District Court, E.D. New York; and the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
