Two New Partners for SGR

ATLANTA (June 18, 2008) — Two partners have recently joined Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP’s Atlanta office. P. Andrew Patterson practices in the Firm’s Bond Section and Glenn Gunnels practices in the Tax Section.

P. Andrew Patterson is a partner in the Corporate Section of the firm practicing in the Municipal Bond Finance and Real Estate areas. He specializes in real estate and municipal bond finance law and has served as lead bond counsel in connection with the issuance of bonds by the state of Georgia. He has also represented several governmental authorities and entities, particularly in matters relating to housing and redevelopment.

Mr. Patterson began his career as a partner in the law firm of Jackson, Patterson & Parks founded by Maynard Jackson, former Mayor of the City of Atlanta. He moved to Smith, Gambrell & Russell after more than twenty years as a name partner at Thomas, Kennedy, Sampson & Patterson. He is a graduate of Fisk University and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1968, where he was one of the founders of the Harvard Black Law Student Association.

Mr. Patterson will be one of four men to receive the “Men of the Year” award for 2008 given by Women Looking Ahead news magazine at a ceremony taking place June 27th. The award is given out to individuals who have made an impact on Corporate America as well as their community.

Glenn Gunnels practices in the Tax Section, where he heads the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits practice in Atlanta. He was previously a partner with Schiff Hardin. His expertise includes advising clients with respect to the design, implementation and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans and executive compensation plans and agreements, and in using leveraged ESOPs to finance corporate acquisitions. Mr. Gunnels received his B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Memphis and his J.D. from Northwestern University.
