GEFA expects approval of use of stimulus funds

In May, the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (“GEFA”) submitted comprehensive application packages to the U.S. Department of Energy (“DOE”) for funding through the State Energy Program and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). This month, GEFA expects to receive plan approval and preliminary funding allocations from DOE. Application forms and program guidelines will not be released until GEFA has received approval. According to GEFA, all funding for local government and nongovernment projects will be awarded based on application processes that have not yet been established. GEFA expects to receive new or expanded funding for Georgia’s State Energy Program, the Weatherization Assistance Program, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, and the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program under the Stimulus package.
