The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, signed into law at the end of 2020, includes a number of significant new compliance requirements for employer-sponsored group health plans. The new rules are intended to (i) increase transparency in pricing for medical services and plan costs, and (ii) protect plan participants from surprise medical bills from out-of-network providers.
The compliance deadline for these new rules is fast approaching, as compliance is generally required by January 1, 2022.
In addition to providing an overview of the new compliance requirements, this webinar will also cover:
- Who is responsible for compliance (the employer or its plan service providers)?
- How do vendor agreements and insurance contracts need to be amended to reflect the new rules?
- What is the impact of the new rules on plan design and cost?
- What will claims disputes with out-of-network providers look like going forward?
- What impact do the new rules have on the employer’s fiduciary duties under ERISA?
