Until his last year of college, where he also played a year of basketball, Eliot planned to be a high school social studies teacher. Eliot has since developed a new passion and has traded in his basketball for a golf ball.

Eliot practices all areas of real estate law, with a concentration in condominiums and cooperatives and in local and national sales, purchases, leases, and financings of large and small commercial and residential properties. This includes several commercial transactions exceeding $100,000,000 each, and many more in tens of millions. Eliot has represented parties on all sides of sales/purchases/financings/refinancings of multiple dwellings, commercial buildings, mixed use buildings and shopping centers.

With extensive experience and a recognized reputation in cooperatives and condominiums, Eliot is the “go to” guy for countless attorneys in the New York area for their coop and condo work and questions. Eliot welcomes these opportunities and enjoys working with so many of his peers. Eliot has represented numerous sponsors of offering plans (including preparation of those offering plans), and he now represents numerous cooperative corporations and condominiums on an ongoing basis with their general corporate matters, including matters relating to tenant stockholders, unit owners, board members, managing agents, contractors and others.

Eliot has been on the teaching panels of several continuing legal education courses sponsored by the New York City Bar Association, has taught a course at the New York Real Estate Institute, has been a guest lecturer at the New York University Graduate Center and at seminars conducted by the Council of New York Cooperatives, and he has appeared as an expert on television. He has been quoted in numerous articles and columns in the New York Times, the majority appearing in the Questions and Answers (“Q&A”) Column of the Weekly Real Estate Section.

Eliot received his B.A., cum laude, from The City College of New York in 1973, and his J.D. from Boston College School of Law in 1976. He is admitted to practice law in New York and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Real Property Law section and the Condominiums and Cooperatives Committee of the New York State Bar Association, as well as a member of the Cooperative and Condominium Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association. For that New York City Bar Association Committee, Eliot was a member of subcommittees that reviewed and revised the previous New York standard forms of condominium unit sale agreement and condominium unit alteration agreement.

Eliot was a member of the New York Lawyers Committee for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. That Committee worked with the New York City office of the Museum to conduct continuing legal education courses for New York attorneys, and was involved in other functions to bring more awareness to the purposes and goals of the Museum.

While Eliot did play in the lawyers basketball league during its early years, he now focuses solely on slam dunks and full court presses for his family and clients (with some golf on the side).

Eliot is married to Jann Meri T. Zuckerman, a retired nursery school teacher and formerly a ballerina with the New York City Ballet. He is father to Cody Zuckerman, a special needs child with whom he has a wonderful and close relationship.

Eliot and his family live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York, where his personal interests consist of being a lifelong, diehard New York Giants fan and an avid golfer.
