Mr. Khoury is Smith, Gambrell & Russell’s Director of e-Discovery. His practice focuses on helping clients manage the legal risks and expense of creating, maintaining, and using electronic information before, during, and after litigation. Mr. Khoury serves as discovery counsel for businesses and government bodies involved in complex litigation and counsels clients on information governance issues such as data retention, destruction, and privacy. He partners with clients to ensure their data is being managed in a way that best accomplishes their business and legal goals.
In addition to helping Smith, Gambrell & Russell’s clients and attorneys navigate the rapidly evolving world of electronic data, he also supervises the firm’s e-Discovery and document review staff and teaches e-Discovery at the University of Alabama School of Law.

Representative Experience
- E-Discovery counsel for one of Georgia’s co-equal branches of government, handling all phases of electronic discovery for litigated matters large and small, including high-profile redistricting class actions.
- Managed e-Discovery for the State of Mississippi in multiple complex litigation matters arising from Hurricane Katrina and the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.
- Conducted internal investigation for a large, regulated entity involving environmental issues.
- Managed client responses to subpoenas from the DOJ and the OIG.
- Created the strategy for and supervised the implementation of e-Discovery for the State of Mississippi in complex litigation arising from the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.
- Planned and managed all aspects of e-Discovery in defense of multiple class action cases against a large regional bank.
- Created the strategy for and managed the implementation of e-Discovery for multiple litigated matters for a large state university.
- Developed information governance/document retention programs for manufacturing companies, banks, an electric membership corporation, and a consolidated asset management services company.
- Audited litigation hold process for Fortune 500 corporation.
