SGR Partner Andy Thompson will speak on September 25, 2019 at a legal seminar for engineers and others involved in the engineering field.  The seminar is entitled Engineering Law and Ethics and will occur at the Hyatt House-Cobb Galleria, 3595 Cumberland Boulevard SE, Atlanta, GA 30339.  Andy will provide an update on Developments in Federal and Georgia Environmental Law including discharges to groundwater, the repeal and replacement of the Waters of the United States Rule, U.S. EPA’s National Compliance Initiatives, Repeal and Replacement of the Clean Power Plan, and PFAS Regulation and Litigation. Mercedes-Benz Stadium Fly-Through: Watch It

The New Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which will be home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United (set to begin play in 2017), is currently under construction. Several renderings of the unique design for the stadium have been available to the public for some time. However, a new fly-through video released this Tuesday shows the much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz Stadium in all its glory, including the unique retractable roof, a gigantic window providing a view of downtown Atlanta, and the 360-degree HD “halo” video board running the entire circumference of the stadium. EPA Provides Almost $1 Million to Improve Water Quality Green Infrastructure

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced last week that it is providing $950,000 to help 17 communities in 16 states expand green infrastructure use.  In so doing, EPA hopes to improve water quality, protect people’s health, and benefit communities with job creation and neighborhood revitalization.  Green infrastructure uses vegetation and soil to manage rainwater where it falls, keeping polluted stormwater from entering sewer systems and waterways in local communities.  Effective green infrastructure tools and techniques include green roofs, permeable materials, alternative designs for streets and buildings, trees, rain gardens and rain harvesting systems.
