ATLANTA (March 12, 2020) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce the addition of Partner Tori M. Silas to the firm’s Atlanta office. Ms. Silas joins SGR after a brief stint with another private-practice firm and prior to that from an Atlanta-based, privately-held media company where she served as senior counsel. As a member of SGR’s Corporate and Cybersecurity practices, she concentrates in the areas of technology transactions, cybersecurity and data privacy.

She also brings with her a perspective from the client side, given her extensive prior experience in the corporate sector.”
Ms. Silas is a skilled legal strategist and business advisor with more than 15 years of large law firm and corporate legal department experience in the technology, media, automotive, and communications sectors. She has served as lead counsel structuring and negotiating complex technology and general commercial transactions, and counseling on privacy, information governance, and data protection compliance.
Prior to joining SGR, Ms. Silas served as senior counsel at a major privately-held media company, where she was appointed as the company’s first privacy officer. She received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was the recipient of the Koyzak, Tropin & Throckmorton Litigation Skills Scholarship. Ms. Silas earned her B.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is certified through the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Among her civic and professional involvements, Ms. Silas is a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice and NextGen Men & Women, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Bar Association Commercial Law Section.
