Smith, Gambrell & Russell Represents Luminex Corporation in Agreement to Acquire MilliporeSigma’s Flow Cytometry Portfolio

ATLANTA (October 23, 2018) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that the firm served as legal counsel to Luminex Corporation (Luminex; NASDAQ: LMNX), in its agreement to acquire MilliporeSigma’s flow cytometry portfolio. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2018.

The acquisition expands Luminex’s existing offering of flow-based detection systems, which is based around its innovative xMAP® multiplexing technology. xMAP Technology combines advanced fluidics, optics, and digital signal processing with proprietary microsphere technology to deliver industry-leading, multiplexed assay capabilities.

MilliporeSigma’s flow cytometry portfolio includes Amnis®, the market-leading family of imaging flow cytometry products for cell-based analysis, as well as their Guava® portfolio of products, which are economical, high-performance systems based on microcapillary technologies.

SGR Partner Jonathan Minnen, in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, served as lead transaction counsel for Luminex, along with Richard Rew, the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Luminex.
