ATLANTA (October 7, 2020) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that Partner Roger Juan Maldonado has been named to the Power of Diversity: Latino 100 list for 2020 by City & State New York magazine. Covering New York’s local and state politics and policy, City & State New York compiled the distinguished list to spotlight the leaders breaking barriers and carving a path for Latinos.
A Partner in SGR’s New York Litigation Practice, Mr. Maldonado has a more than 35-year legal career as a trial lawyer and commercial litigator. He represents musicians, publishers, and record labels in litigation to enforce their copyrights and contractual rights. In addition, Mr. Maldonado assists corporate and commercial institutions in litigation involving claims arising from software development/license disputes, lease agreements, and contract disputes. Fluent in Spanish, he represents the interests of various Hispanic and American businesses, government entities and individuals, and to investigate allegations of corporate wrongdoing and discriminatory employment practices.
Mr. Maldonado recently served as the 68th president of the New York City Bar Association (City Bar) and was the organization’s first Hispanic president. A native of Puerto Rico, he was also the former chair of the City Bar’s Task Force on Puerto Rico supporting its core mission to monitor Puerto Rico’s current fiscal crisis.
Previously, Mr. Maldonado was honored by City & State New York on the magazine’s lists of The 2020 Law Power 100, The 2019 Law Power 50, and The Responsible 100 for 2018.
