Matthew Clarke, a partner in the Litigation Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Inc (AVLF). For many years, Mr. Clarke has served as Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP’s liaison with the AVLF’s Saturday Lawyer Program, which coordinates attorneys volunteering to provide free legal representation in civil matters to low-income Atlanta residents. Because of his support and enthusiasm for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Mr. Clarke was asked to become a member of its Board of Directors.
The Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation was created to meet the needs for legal assistance to low-income citizens of Atlanta. The AVLF assists people in the areas of consumer issues, domestic violence, divorce due to domestic violence, wills, bankruptcy and special education. Cases that do not fit into one of those areas are referred to the Saturday Lawyer Program, which represents clients in other civil matters.
