Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP Secures Complete Defense Judgment for Mohawk Industries

JACKSONVILLE (July 27, 2026) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (“SGR”) is pleased to announce that the Firm served as legal counsel to Mohawk Industries, Inc. (“Mohawk”), in defense of a lawsuit brought jointly by a developer and a general contractor of a multi-family residential project alleging negligent misrepresentations relating to the performance of its flooring products.

Mohawk, the world’s largest flooring manufacturer, is based in Calhoun, Georgia and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (MHK). Mohawk’s products include ceramic tile, carpet, rugs, laminate, luxury vinyl tile, sheet vinyl, wood, and countertops, sold under some of the best-known brands in each market, with 2025 sales in excess of $10 billion across approximately 180 countries.

In the final judgment, the court rejected the assertion that Mohawk had made false statements to the plaintiffs. Notably, in entering judgment in favor of Mohawk on the Plaintiffs’ claims seeking more than $10 million, the judge was persuaded by Mohawk's decision to completely stand behind the warranty granted to its direct customer, who was not a party to the lawsuit.
