About James
James (Jim) Porter is a trusted real estate and business advisor who helps clients move complex commercial transactions forward with clarity, efficiency, and practical judgment. Known for his steady approach and deep market knowledge, Jim works closely with developers, investors, lenders, and business owners to structure deals that align with their operational goals and long-term growth strategies.
On a day-to-day basis, Jim guides clients through acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, and development matters across a wide range of asset classes. He is particularly experienced in multi-family and medical office projects, shopping center development, and commercial leasing for office and retail properties. Clients value James’s ability to anticipate issues early, manage risk effectively, and translate legal complexity into actionable business advice.
Jim also has experience advising financial institutions in mortgage lending transactions and regularly represents buyers, sellers, and lenders in sophisticated real estate financings, distressed debt resolutions, and property restructurings. His prior experience as in-house counsel for a national grocery retailer and a privately held real estate investment company gives him a practical, business-oriented perspective that informs his legal guidance.
