William E. Burnett is an Associate in the Litigation Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Burnett’s practice is focused on the representation of project owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in various construction transactions and disputes throughout the country. He regularly assists clients in the review and negotiation of residential and commercial construction agreements, and he also drafts various contract documents, including specialized construction contracts, which are tailored to his client’s specific needs and project scope.
In addition, Mr. Burnett provides counseling and support to clients throughout the construction of projects, with a goal of promoting timely, on-budget projects and the avoidance of construction disputes. When disputes are unavoidable, he assists clients in their resolution, and is experienced in the mediation, arbitration, and litigation of construction matters.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Burnett spent nearly a decade at one of the country’s largest construction management firms, where he worked as a construction accounting professional on large, multi-million dollar projects throughout the southeast. While there, he also gained experience in construction risk management. Before joining Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, Mr. Burnett worked at a boutique law firm in Atlanta that specialized in the representation of clients in construction transactions and disputes nationwide.
Mr. Burnett received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Georgia State University in 2005 and, in 2015, received his Juris Doctor from the Georgia State University College of Law.
