W. Collins Brown is a Partner in the Private Wealth Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Brown works primarily with business owners, executives, and families on complex estate planning, tax, and corporate matters. His practice focuses on assisting clients on the design and implementation of sophisticated wealth transfer planning matters, the administration of trusts and estates, and related estate, gift, GST, and income tax issues.
Because many of Mr. Brown’s clients are business owners, he also advises clients on business transactions, exit strategies, succession planning, and income tax planning. He regularly represents clients through all stages of buying or selling a business and has significant experience in guiding middle-market clients through mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Mr. Brown received his B.A. from Furman University in 2007. He earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011, where he received the Arthur B. Custy Tax Award as the top tax student in his graduating class. In 2012, Mr. Brown also earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin School of Law. Mr. Brown is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and the Fiduciary Law Section of the Georgia Bar Association.
