L. Alyson Graham is Counsel in the Private Wealth Services Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Ms. Graham’s practice focuses on the areas of estate and tax planning, estate and trust administration, and family business succession planning. She has experience in a wide variety of estate, tax and business planning matters, and has represented numerous clients in the preparation, implementation and administration of their planning. Her work includes the drafting of wills and trusts, charitable planning, structuring tax advantaged sale and gift transactions, planning with qualified retirement accounts, and representing fiduciaries in the administration of trusts and estates. In addition, she assists clients with entity formation, business restructures, buy-sells, and restrictive covenants. She also has experience defending clients against the IRS and representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate litigation.
Prior to joining Smith, Gambrell & Russell, Ms. Graham practiced estate and tax planning, probate administration, and business planning for over five years at a law firm in Gainesville, Georgia.
Ms. Graham studied architecture and received her B.S. degree, cum laude, in Environmental Design from Auburn University in 2002. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law in 2009, where she founded the Estate Planning and Wealth Management Law Society and received the 2008-2009 Outstanding Tax Student Award from the Taxation Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. She received her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University in 2010. Ms. Graham is licensed to practice in Georgia and in front of the U.S. Tax Court.
Ms. Graham is a member of the Fiduciary Law Section and Taxation Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. She is also a member of the Tax Section and the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association.
Prior to moving to Atlanta, Ms. Graham served on the Board of Directors for WomenSource, a non-profit organization serving women of Northeast Georgia. She also served on the Planned Giving Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of Hall County.
