SGR Attorneys Gregory Kirsch, Perry McGuire, Darren Rowles, Andrew Thompson and Matthew Warenzak Selected as Georgia Trend’s 2017 Legal Elite

ATLANTA (December 1, 2017) – Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce that Attorneys Greg Kirsch, Perry McGuire, Darren Rowles, Andy Thompson and Matt Warenzak have been recognized as Georgia Trend’s 2017 Legal Elite. The Legal Elite is a list of Georgia’s top attorneys in the state selected from 16 different practice areas, as nominated and chosen by their peers.

Mr. Kirsch is a Partner and the Department Head of SGR’s Intellectual Property Practice. His practice encompasses the entire range of patent law, including patent procurement, strategic patent portfolio development, patent opinions, post-grant patent office proceedings, licensing, as well as patent litigation. Mr. Kirsch serves as an Adjunct Professor of patent law at Emory University School of Law and intellectual property law at Washington University School of Law (St. Louis). His honors also include Chambers USA: Leading Business Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America®, Super Lawyers, and the IAM Patent 1000.

Mr. McGuire is Counsel in the Corporate Practice of SGR where his emphasis is on franchise, M&A and governmental affairs. His in-house experience has given him a broad base of experience on which to draw to assist clients in many areas of their business. Mr. McGuire has successfully counseled businesses at every level of the business cycle, including start-up, distribution agreements, supply agreements, tolling agreements, intellectual property licensing, and merger/divestiture. He is currently also recognized as a member of Lawyers of Distinction.

Mr. Rowles is an Associate in SGR’s Construction Law, Litigation and Sustainability Practices. He represents clients in all aspects of civil and construction litigation, including depositions and discovery, motion practice, arbitration, and trial. Mr. Rowles also assists clients with environmental due diligence matters, particularly with respect to the redevelopment of environmentally impacted property. He is recognized by Super Lawyers – Rising Stars.

Mr. Thompson is a Partner in SGR’s Environmental/Land Use and Sustainability Practices where his work includes environmental, commercial, and insurance-related litigation in state and federal court, as well as in state administrative court. Mr. Thompson serves as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law teaching a course in water law and environmental litigation. His other recognitions have included Super Lawyers – Rising Stars, the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership, Martindale-Hubbell AV Rated Attorney, and Best Lawyers in America®.

Mr. Warenzak is a Partner in SGR’s Intellectual Property Practice where he specializes in patent prosecution, patent litigation, including Post-Grant proceedings, and trademarks. He also is an experienced general IP counsel, handling and litigating issues from all forms of intellectual property matters, including patent, copyright, trademark, and licensing.  Mr. Warenzak has been recognized by Super Lawyers – Rising Stars.
