Equine Law

Horse owners and equine professionals, such as trainers and stable owners, are all concerned with protecting these valuable animals, minimizing exposure to liability and maximizing their equine investments.

SGR helps clients achieve these goals by negotiating sale and breeding contracts, reviewing boarding agreements and insurance policies, and drafting leases and documents that protect the interests of clients and the welfare of their horses during training and transportation.

These services are available to owners of horses and stables, breeders, transporters, trainers, veterinarians and other equine professionals. The firm also has broad experience in forming business entities that help protect the assets of equine professionals and amateurs alike from exposure to liability risks associated with horse ownership.

The Firm’s Equine Law section is lead by Partner Tim Bumann. Mr. Bumann is a former American Pinto Horse Association Director for Georgia. He raises and shows Paint and Pinto horses. A “hands on” horse owner, he has won eight World Championships with his APHA/PtHA registered gelding, Barlink Tuffenuff.
