Dominique Y. Tauzin is Counsel in the Private Wealth Services Practice at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Dominique Y. Tauzin’s legal career started in Albany, New York where she had unique opportunities to serve as both legislative counsel and appellate attorney. Since 2009, her practice has focused exclusively on advising individuals, couples and family-owned and small business owners in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate and business succession planning. Her client’s needs range from simple trust-based estate plans to more analytical estate and tax planning. She also has extensive experience with trust administrations, including disputes involving fiduciaries, beneficiaries and charitable organizations, and court probates.
In 2002, after a year-long clerkship in Los Angeles, Dominique moved to Albany, New York and accepted a position as legislative counsel to the New York State Assembly. After several years, an opportunity arose to join the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, to work as a Senior Appellate Attorney. Cut short for personal reasons, she and her family returned to her native Los Angeles and she began working as a litigation associate for a mid-size law firm, all the while assisting family and friends with simple trusts and estates matters. She ultimately set out on her own as a solo practitioner where her legal practice focused solely on issues of trust and estates law. She joined the firm of Rodi Pollock Pettker Christian & Pramov in 2013 and continued her career in this field.
Dominique earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of California at Santa Cruz as a double major in Molecular Biology and American Literature. She earned her Juris Doctor at the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where she served as co-Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Women’s Law Journal.
Dominique is admitted to practice law in both California and New York. She lives in Los Angeles, only a few miles away from where she grew up, with her family. She is conversant in French and will always enjoy an opportunity to stretch her brain’s “language” muscles.
