Tayan B. Patel
Tayan Patel is an associate in the Intellectual Property Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Tayan’s practice focuses on domestic and foreign patent prosecution. Tayan also handles intellectual property licensing matters and opinion work concerning freedom to operate, noninfringement and validity. His patent prosecution experience includes all facets of semiconductor technology, electrical devices, signal processing, pharmaceuticals and mechanical arts.
Prior to joining the firm, Tayan worked for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (U.S.P.T.O.) as a patent examiner. His work involved searching worldwide databases for relevant prior art, prosecuting patent applications and conducting interviews with patentees in order to further prosecution.
Tayan received his B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from Stevens Institute of Technology. He earned his J.D. from Rutgers University, where he was a member of the Advanced Moot Court Board. Currently, Tayan is pursuing a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
Tayan is fluent in Spanish and Hindi.
