Prior to joining the Firm in 1979, he served as Senior Vice President and Legal Counsel for the National Bank of Georgia for more than four years.
Mr. Schwartz has expertise in securities and bank regulatory matters. He has represented numerous financial institutions in regulatory enforcement proceedings throughout the Southeast and has assisted in the formation of over 40 “de novo” community financial institutions located in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee.
In addition to supervising the Firm’s on-going representation of financial institution clients, which includes a broad array of banks, savings and loan associations, finance companies and title lending companies. Mr. Schwartz represents several financial institutions in acquisitions, interstate expansion, capital formation and regulatory enforcement proceedings.
Mr. Schwartz is a 1972 graduate with a B.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his J.D. degree from Emory University in 1975.
He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the corporation, banking and business law sections of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Bankers Association. He has been selected as on of the Best Lawyers in America in Banking Law.
