Michael S. Haber
Michael S. Haber is a partner in the Bankruptcy/Creditors Rights Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Haber’s practice is concentrated in commercial transactions and bankruptcy law. The primary focus of his commercial transaction practice includes the various relationships which both banks and non-banks have with prospective borrowers and borrowers, including loan structure, documentation and lender liability issues. His representation of lenders extends to out of court restructuring and formal insolvency proceedings. He represents borrowers, as well, in all facets of commercial transactions.
Mr. Haber has represented diverse constituencies in restructuring and bankruptcy cases. His experience includes the representation of financial institutions in workouts, debt restructuring and Chapter 11 reorganizations. He has represented Debtors (both privately and publicly held) in various industries such as airlines, broad band communication services, retail sales and manufacturing.
His practice is national in scope representing clients in the Southeast as well as elsewhere.
Mr. Haber received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1970. He graduated cum laude from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University in 1973, where he was the Lead Articles Editor for the Mercer Law Review.
Mr. Haber has served on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. Currently, he serves on the Boards for The Fragile Kids Foundation and the Academic Assistance Program. Mr. Haber has lectured at numerous seminars on various bankruptcy topics. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association.
Mr. Haber was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1973.
