Katharine F. Rowe
Katharine Rowe is a partner in the Jacksonville office of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP’s Intellectual Property Practice Group.
Ms. Rowe advises clients in matters involving intellectual property (copyright and trademark), technology (hosting, ASP, development, licensing and distribution agreements), Internet (web site development, e-commerce initiatives), publishing, visual arts, rights acquisition and licensing issues. She represents a number of entities in the solar and environmental services fields, including manufacturers of alternative energy products, manufacturers of alternative energy power plants, distributors of green products, environmental service providers, and outdoor recreational companies. Ms. Rowe provides service to them in the fields of intellectual property and technology.
Before joining the Firm, she was Senior Counsel at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP. She joined LeBoeuf from Random House, Inc. in New York City, where she was responsible for all legal matters in a number of book publishing, audiobook, video, new media and entertainment divisions, as well as for company trademark matters. Ms. Rowe was an associate at the New York law firm of Lankenau, Kovner, Kurtz and Outten (now Davis Wright Tremaine LLP) and served as Director of Legal Services in the New York office of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
Katharine Rowe received her B.A. degree in history and English literature from the University of Michigan in 1980, where she was a James B. Angell Scholar. She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1984, where she was an Edward Hennessey Scholar. Ms. Rowe is a member of the advisory board of the University of North Florida Fine Arts Center. She is also a board member of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
Ms. Rowe is an Adjunct Professor at Florida Coastal School of Law, where she teaches Art Law.
Ms. Rowe is admitted to practice in New York and in Florida. She is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law in Florida.
